Jefferson County's garbage and recycling changes are now in effect as of April 1, 2026. Recycling-only loads at either site cost $20. If you bring trash and recycling together in the same trip, you are charged only for the trash and there is no additional recycling fee on that load.

  • Accepts: Self-haul garbage, county recycling, and yard waste
  • Best for: Larger loads, transfer-station dropoffs, and yard waste.

Quilcene Drop Box

  • Hours: Thursday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Saturday 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Accepts: Household garbage and county recycling
  • Does not accept: Yard waste or construction materials

  • Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; closed holidays
  • Use: Compost product sales only
  • Important: Closed to the public for dumping. Call ahead for current product availability.

Effective April 1, 2026

  • Recycling-only loads: $20 at either site if you bring only recycling materials.
  • Trash and recycling together: You will only be charged for the trash. Recycling brought on the same trip remains free.
  • Best way to haul: Combine your trash and recycling in one trip when possible so you avoid the recycling-only fee.
